A child prodigy at age seven, Gary was chosen by the academic community to receive drawing and painting instructions at the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester, New York. His exposure to some of the finest European and American representational paintings at the museum and private collections was to have a profound effect on his passion-driven hunger for painting excellence. But, it wasn’t until 1985 he left his professional field of corporate counseling and education with a major international corporation to pursue his life’s calling. Since then he has satisfied his soulful-hunger and achieved more than he imagined. Gary was also privileged to exhibit along-side such noted celebrities and talented painters as Tony Curtis, Anthony Quinn and Tony Bennett. He states, "at about age eleven or twelve when standing in front of portraits by Rembrandt and Frans Hals, a very strange chill came over me and I began to mentally drift into a momentary trance. It was as if I had been there, or had possibly painted before."
